Initiated in 1987 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Queen Victoria's accession and to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Victoria and Albert Halls, Ballater's Victoria Week brings together numerous sections of the community to lay on a host of fun activities for all ages. Held in the second week of August each year, BVW has raised thousands of pounds for local causes and continually seeks to renew and refresh itself by reflecting current trends and initiatives. This year's programme is now available. Visit www.ballatervictoriaweek.co.uk for more details.

This year's programme includes the usual duck race!  Eight different duck colours are now available, each one supporting and raising cash for a different local group or charity.  Duck Race tickets cost just £2.50 each and the first duck past the line wins its ticket-holder £250.  The race takes place on the River Dee (river height permitting) on Sunday August 17 at 11am.

Ballater Victoria Week's new tartan has been registered and approved by The Scottish Register of Tartans.  The development means BVW is now free to replicate the tartan and weave it.

The Victorian Heritage Trail tea towels on sale during BVW are now available to order.  The tea towels were kindly donated to BVW by Discover Royal Deeside and are presently on sale in Lucy's Clothing Shop in Ballater and The Deeside Inn but we would like to increase the number of places they are available and raise more funds. The tea towels are priced at just £3 and every penny benefits BVW. Any faraway BVW fans who would like to order a tea towel (or more) can get them for £4.50 inc p&p (UK only; overseas fans should get in touch for individual prices). They make great gifts or mementoes. Contact us for details. Postage reduced for multiple orders.
