The team at Drum Castle, Aberdeenshire are asking drummers to beat a path to their door for a special Homecoming event on Sunday 24 August 2014. The team at Drum Castle, Aberdeenshire are asking drummers to beat a path to their door for a special Homecoming event on Sunday 24 August 2014.

The National Trust for Scotland property is holding its special Drum Beat – The Homecoming event to celebrate the conclusion of vital conservation works to its medieval tower.

Drummers of all ages, styles and skill levels are invited to bring their bass drums to bang, their tom toms to tap or their snares to smash at an event which organisers hope will be a hit and could become an annual addition to the Drum calendar.

Event organiser, Kris Bruce said: “This is a massive year for Drum as we re-open the full castle again after completing the vital conservation to the medieval tower. Drum was given by Robert the Bruce to the Irvines, and now, nearly 700 years later, in the year of Homecoming and the anniversary of Bannockburn, we want to celebrate the re-launch of Drum Castle in style.

“So, we are inviting drummers to be part of this momentous occasion by registering their interest in playing at historic Drum. We would like to hear from any type of drummer - solo acts, group performers, drum-based artists – the more varied the better.”
